In St. Raphaela's we value the important role played by students in our school community. A Student Council is elected each year by the students to represent the views of students and run a range of events which are of importance to students.
One Student Council representative is elected from each class group and Student Council Officers (Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer) are elected from among the 5th Year students. The Student Council meets regularly to discuss matters of relevance to the students.
- The role of the Student Council in St. Raphaela's is to enhance communication between students, management, staff and parents.
- Promote friendship and respect among students.
- Promote an environment conducive to educational and personal development.
- Represent the views of students on matters of importance to them.
In recent years the Student Council has organised and run a number of events for the whole school community. These include raising awareness about the schools anti-bullying policy through the "Shield My School Campaign" and running fund-raising events for local charities. The Student Council has also developed links with other Secondary School students through its involvement in the Irish Second-Level Students Union (ISSU).
