Sports Facilities
The sports facilities in St.Raphaela’s Secondary School are excellent and we offer a wide range of sports at all levels to keep our students healthy and happy.
We provide many sports facilities that are used by the students, Staff, Parents and the Local Community.
- A new Astroturf Pitch for Hockey and Football.
- New changing rooms, etc. in our Sports Pavilion.
- A new Outdoor Basketball Court which can double as Tennis Courts in the Summer Term.
- 2 indoor Badminton Courts in the main Gym Hall.
- Sports Hall (Fulham Hall) – Equipment for Gymnastics, Athletics and many other Sports.
The Hockey Pitch
This brand new, state of the art, hockey pitch is an all-weather pitch with floodlights and shelters. It is an invaluable addition to the school and has already seen many exciting matches. The pitch is also rented out by local clubs and football teams for training.
In early 2006 we were very proud to have the official opening of our new all-weather Hockey pitch. Sr. Rita Burley, Superior General of the Handmaids of the Sacred Heart, performed the Opening Ceremony. Since it was opened it has been in constant use, and the number of students applying for places on Hockey teams has tripled.
Sports Pavilion
This new addition to the school is adjacent to the new Astroturf hockey pitch. It has shower facilities for the school and local clubs that may want to hire the pitch.
Outdoor basketball and Tennis Courts
Offers teams the opportunity to practice outside when weather permits.
Sports Hall
St. Raphaela’s sports hall has two badminton courts or a basketball court. It is used to sit the house exams and also the Junior and Leaving Cert examinations. It has full changing facilities and excellent equipment.
