Physical Education
In line with department guidelines, St. Raphaelas provide two hours per week of Physical Education at all levels. Physical Education is compulsory to TY and to all students at Senior Cycle where there is no clash of extra choice subjects.
Physical Education is also now offered as a Leaving Cert subject at Senior Cycle.
Junior Cycle Physical Education 1st- 3rd Years
The school Physical Education programme follows the JCPE Curriculum. We provide a wide range of physical activities across all strands. We also incorporate the Key Skills of the Junior Cycle; being literate, managing oneself, staying well, managing information and thinking. The skills are embedded throughout the Junior Cycle and beyond.
Transition Year Physical Education
Transition Year sees a broad range of physical activity and wellbeing on the timetable. Activities such as sailing, Zumba, yoga and fencing complement two Physical Education classes per week during one of the four rotations of the TY year.
