L.C.V.P. – Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme
L.C.V.P. is a subject, which aims to combine the academic strengths of the Leaving Certificate (established) with a new dynamic focus on self-directed learning, enterprise, work and the community. The primary goal of L.C.V.P. is to prepare young people for adult life by ensuring that they are educated in the broadest sense, with an ability to cope and thrive in an environment of rapid change.
Students must take a minimum of five Leaving Certificate subjects (at Higher, Ordinary or Foundation Level) including Irish. Students who are exempt from studying Irish, must take additional subject(s) to ensure that they present a minimum of five Leaving Certificate subjects in their Leaving Certificate examination. Students must study the two Link Modules, namely Preparation for the World of Work and Enterprise Education
The L.C.V.P. course is examined in the following way:
· Portfolio of Coursework – 60%
This is assembled over the two years of the programme. It contains the following compulsory items which you must complete four; Curriculum Vitae, Career Investigation, Summary Report, Enterprise/Action Plan.
It contains the following optional items which you must complete two; Diary of Work Experience, Recorded Interview, Enterprise Report, ‘My Own Place’ Report.
· Terminal Examination – 40%
This is a two and a half hour Common Level exam and will be completed in the May of their Leaving Certificate year. You complete an Audio Visual Question, a Case Study Question and 4 out of 6 Long Questions.

Grade New Higher Ordinary
Distinction:
80-100% 66 points H4 (60-70)
Merit:
65-79% 46 points H2 (40-50) O2 (80-90)
Pass: 50-64% 28 points
