Gaisce

Gaisce also known as The Presidents Award is a challenge with three medal stages each one leading to the next, bronze, silver and finally gold. Gaisce is for students between the ages of 15 to 25.

Students who decide to take on the challenge must organise and complete tasks within a certain period of time and a certain amount of times.

Medal Levels & Minimum Age
1. Bronze & 15
2. Silver & 16
3. Gold & 17

Bronze Medal

Skill e.g. computers – Participate one hour per week for 26 weeks. Community e.g. first aid – Participate one hour per week for 15 weeks
Physical e.g. swimming – Participate one hour per week for 12 weeks
Adventure – Organise a two-day hike/cycle/canoe trip

Silver Medal

Skill e.g. music – Participate one hour per week for 39 weeks
Community e.g. first aid – Participate one hour per week for 30 weeks
Physical e.g. football – Participate one hour per week for 15 weeks
Adventure – Organise a three-day hike/cycle/canoe trip

Gold Medal

Skill e.g. driving lessons – Participate one hour per week for 50 weeks
Community e.g. life saving – Participate one hour per week for 60 weeks
Physical e.g. tennis – Participate one hour per week for 18 weeks
Adventure – Participate in a four-day hike/cycle/canoe trip
