COP26 student voice
When I arrived in glasgow for COP26, the first thing that struck me was the signs celebrating net zero 2030 as if it was anything other than a lacklustre non-commitment. Then I heard that staying below 1.5 degrees wasnt on the agenda for COP26 and I understood the sham at play here. World leaders have the power to prevent a climage catastrophe but what we continually see at events like COP is PR stunts, celebrations of the bare minimum and the platforming of polluters.

On Friday and Saturday I attended demonstrations in Glasgow to protest our world leaders continued inaction in the face of the climate crisis.
The numbers on the streets are not a result of unity between world leaders and the people, but our way of highlighting the smoke and mirrors of the event.
one chant relly struck me at these protests,
THE PEOPLE, UNITED,

WE'LL NEVER BE DEFEATED.
